Credit Card Bonds

At the start of each rental Redspot requires a pre authorisation (bond) from your credit card. If you have a zero damage liability, the credit card will be authorised for $100 to cover the cost for any additional charges. A pre authorisation simply freezes an amount on your credit card, allowing Redspot access to the funds in the unlikely event that damage is caused to the vehicle while under your care. Cash Bonds

Redspot is able to rent to customers who cannot supply a credit card as security. The bond amount is $1500.00 regardless of the customers damage liability amount. The cash bond is banked within 24hrs of receiving the amount, and will be refunded to the customer via EFT or cheque within 14 to 21 working days. A cash handling fee will apply.*

Please note that Redspot is un-able to cancel a pre-authorisation once it has been processed. The pre-authorisation is automatically cancelled by the customer's credit card provider between 7 and 28 days if the pre-authorisation is not used by Redspot. Redspot can sometimes assist in this matter, however it is up to the customers individual bank to release the funds.

* Redspot honours a few third party booking providers have slightly higher/lower cash bond amounts.

**Cash bond refunds needs a delay due to the high rate of traffic infringements that are sent to Redspot weeks after the rental has been closed.
